I randomly picked this up and need to read the prequel now! A journalist, a detective, and the subject of ptsd…seeing things whilst subconsciously grasping for patterns. Loved the book. Good if you are a fan of Scandinavian-noir and need a new lead.
This was a vacation purchase, found in a delightful Oxfam store (you Brits are mighty lucky!) This is an ominous novella filled with foreboding. Sylvie is 17 and spending a summer with her parents and a university group living as ancient Britons and getting a glimpse outside her life with her extremely strict and abusive father. The book veers towards its inevitable climax and was a compelling examination of our continued primitive nature.
Seren and I had a cozy evening with this memoir. Reached about the halfway mark, but now I need to get some sleep!
Happy March! I‘m starting these two today!

This was a unique ghost story about a haunted street named after the first residents, Talitha Velkwood and her family.
One night, the whole neighborhood just vanished. The only survivors were three of the girls who were away at college. Now, a research group and Talitha are going back 👻

A more feminist version of “Goodnight Mister Tom“ with a pony instead of a dog. A book that crashed me in the best way possible. I barely managed to read the first chapter, but I had tears in my eyes when I saw how Ada and Jamie grew. And not only them, but also Susan. How this family grows stronger and stronger, and proves that family is not only made by blood. Highly recommend, especially now.
