Mehso-so

This was a long ass book. I had no idea how contemptuous a relationship LIW and RLM had. Rose was kind of awful, and their relationship dynamic was weird. Anyway, you learn a lot about everything during that time period (maybe too much) & unfortunately I won't look at the cherished series from childhood the same way after reading this and knowing the hand (or pen) Rose had to it

A Little Prairie House | Laura Ingalls Wilder

This book can be linked to lessons on American history, specifically westward expansion, and can be used to engage students in discussions about family, resilience, and adaptation to new environments.

A Little Prairie House | Laura Ingalls Wilder
Pickpick

This book was published in 1998 and is a historical fiction book that is part of the My First Little House Books series. The story follows the Ingalls family's move to the prairie, where they build a new home and settle into frontier life. The book's illustrations and simple narrative introduce young readers to life on the American frontier.

I‘m nearing the end of my reread of the Little House series.

Much of my enjoyment has been discovering that I somehow seem to empathize with the adults now (and that I can‘t stop questioning the lifestyle choices they were happy to live with). 😆

Itchyfeetreader I am not sure I read all of these in the end but love the revisiting. 7mo
Ruthiella I‘ve only re-read Little House in the Big Woods as an adult, but I definitely noticed and empathize with different things as a grown up! 7mo
Tamra Brings a smile to my face. ☺️ Such comforting memories. 7mo

Aimeesue I did a complete re-read a couple years ago. Farmer Boy is now my favorite, because yeah, there were some shady goings-on, there Pa. I also read a bio at the same time 7mo
AlaMich I had that same edition box set. 7mo
Suet624 Being a grownup on the prairie was not easy! 😂😂 7mo
LeahBergen @Itchyfeetreader I thoroughly enjoyed it! 7mo
LeahBergen @Ruthiella It‘s been eye-opening to say the least. 😆 7mo
LeahBergen @Tamra And now you have your own set again! 👏 7mo
LeahBergen @Aimeesue I loved Farmer Boy this time around! My favourite when I was really young was On the Banks of Plum Creek, most likely because it was the first one I read and I was the same age as Laura in the book. I‘m going to read that bio soon, too. 7mo
LeahBergen @AlaMich Lucky you! I got them all individually for birthdays and Christmas. 😆 7mo
LeahBergen @Suet624 Yeah, I definitely wouldn‘t make it as a pioneer girl. 😆 7mo
kspenmoll What fun to reread this series. I adored these books & wrote stories modeled on the family‘s adventures. 7mo
LeahBergen @kspenmoll Did you really?? Early “fan fiction”! 🥰 7mo
