The new Percy Jackson book being released gave me the push to finish The Trials of Apollo series and catch up on the Percy Jackson universe this week. I forgot how entertaining these books are!

ravenlee I am majorly conflicted about these two new books: I desperately want to get them and read them, but all the other PJU books I have are paperback! 2d
BookHoarder32 @ravenlee That is a tough one! Maybe see if you can borrow from the library and buy them when they come out in paperback? 2d

To buy or not to buy? 🤷‍♀️

The facts:
1. I already have at least one copy of all three.
2. I have read the first one (Darker Shade of Magic), but not the other two yet.
3. I‘d like to be inspired to read them before the new one comes out..

Thoughts?

Update: I didn‘t buy them this time. 😄

ChaoticMissAdventures As someone who has box set of multiple series that have been sitting on my shelf for a few years... I don't know if buying would inspire me to read them - Looking at you Shadow & Bone. Also I would be worried if they are not all out yet they might change the covers later, and then my set would not match. 2mo
BookHoarder32 @ChaoticMissAdventures lol! Yes, i‘ve only read the first shadow and bone book too… these new covers match the new Thread of Power series coming out this year. 2mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @BookHoarder32 you read one! My copies are literally still in the wrapper! I bought the whole series when the tv show was announced and it is just sitting there. But I also feel like buying books is a different hobby then reading books... and I love people supporting bookshops! 2mo
See All 6 Comments
BookHoarder32 @ChaoticMissAdventures Yes! Two separate hobbies for sure. Did you watch the tv series? I didn‘t. 2mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @BookHoarder32 I watched the first maybe one and a half episodes and had zero idea what was going on, so stopped.... but I don't watch a ton of TV so it might just be me. 2mo
BookHoarder32 @ChaoticMissAdventures I don‘t watch much new tv these days. As far as shows based on books, I would want to read them first too before I attempted to watch them. Or if I have read them, I‘m afraid they‘ll massacre it. Like I‘m so scared to watch the upcoming Percy Jackson series on disney+. 😱 2mo

I spent the weekend in the OASIS. The first one was as good as I remembered and in the second, I felt a little bogged down by the pop culture references (seven shards vs. three keys), and the ending left me a little disturbed. But I don‘t read much sci-fi, so maybe that‘s the norm?

Picked these up at the library today. I‘m thinking of rereading Heartstopper for the graphic novel and adapted into a tv series fields. Can anyone recommend a good book for set in South America or a South American author? Or any of the other categories?

willaful Pablo Neruda's poetry is usually a good bet. Or I bet a book about him would be interesting. He had all these wild houses; I got to tour one in Chile. 4mo

Setting up my June #bookspin early as it worked surprisingly well in May to get me to read Hotel Magnifique. Or if anyone sees anything I should try to tackle earlier? @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! Silver in the Bone is on my summer reading list. I see some OwlCrate editions - did you get May's book???? I'm not over how freaking gorgeous it is! I hope I like the actual story! 😂 4mo
BookHoarder32 @TheAromaofBooks lol! I did - it just came today. I‘m thinking of reading it from the library so I don‘t have to open it 🥰 I‘ve heard good things about it, so hopefully… 🤞 4mo

Finished my #bookspin. It‘s going on the keeper shelf because I‘ll probably reread it at some point, as I liked the fantasy aspect and I rushed through it this time, but I may be getting too old for these YA/teen books.

I have nieces the ages of Jani and Zosa, and I kept thinking: that‘s a little young to be on their own.

Also, the switchblade finger? What was that? (Not sexy.) Ok, rant over.

 @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks I'm glad you enjoyed it!! This was a book that I felt like should have been a duology at least. There was so much potential world-building (and character building) that we just didn't have time for, so I was left with questions. But I did like it, and the edition is so pretty!! 5mo
