An absorbing novel of war, friendship, love and redemption. Taking place on the Homefront of London and on Malta, the book gives readers a different sort of perspective and allows for a study of overlooked history.

Such delicious fun but also makes you think. A good take for today's political climate.

Erynecki Haven't read the book, but did see the movie! 8y

Excellent! There are many metaphors in this richly layered story of survival: group think, blind faith, independence, disease. The hero at the heart of this tale is one gutsy pregnant woman.

A fresh perspective on the Vietnam War. Opens the window on what it was like for citizens of Saigon. It's ambiguous, suspenseful and full of turmoil.

Jaimelire Starting this tonight. 7y

The words dance on the page as the story unfolds. Historical fiction as literature. Lyrical and sublime.
