Beasts Made of Night is a Nigerian-influenced fantasy and Onyebuchi‘s debut novel, and it shows great promise (characters, action sequences, sin-eating concept) despite some rough edges (pacing). It is no secret that the fantasy genre has long been Eurocentric, but building on a foundation laid by early diverse voices, it is exciting to see authors like Onyebuchi break this mold, telling stories particular to their background and experiences.
