Set in the Pacific Northwest, it‘s a slightly dark mystery without being over the top. For some reason, the backstory of the town really drew me in too … this was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon with a cup of something warm in the fog!

I moved to San Francisco as an adult, so I only knew the superficial details of its history. This book takes a much deeper dive and made me realize how much was happening all at the same time! The details weren‘t emotionally easy to read sometimes, but it‘s a fascinating story and profoundly changed how I feel about my new hometown.

San Francisco setting plus characters that feel incredibly genuine and a clever plot, this was definitely worth my time. Took me straight back to being in 8th grade in the 80s, but in a good way.

This starts off well but the twists are predictable. The redeeming quality for me was that it calls into question some fairly widespread opinions about romantic love and how it‘s found and most importantly how we judge people who don‘t find it.

Reminiscent of the mighty Jack Reacher, I loved the female version. Tortured and restless but with a strong moral compass, there seems to be a soft spot in my heart for flawed heroes. An easy read with 8 more in the series to binge if you like Rachel Hatch‘s angsty grit.

Super tense thriller that may trigger some, but it was a breathtakingly fun ride!

I adore stories set in certain cities and San Francisco is one of them! Some of the characters were stereotypical, which felt like a cheat, but the pace was quick, the concept was super creative and while it might not be on my top ten list, I was entertained which is enough sometimes.
