I loved this little book! It was 218 pages of love, smiles, and amazing quotes that I wish I had noted. This book was reminiscent of A Man Called Ove, which I also loved. At this moment (having just finished the book) I'm not sure which book I loved more. For those who have heard me gush over Ove, you know this is really saying something. I'll definitely be purchasing a copy (as I do with all my favorite books) so I can loan it to friends.

Wow! I've anxiously awaited the release of this book ALL YEAR and in typical Ruta fashion, it did not disappoint! The ending seemed abrupt to me, partly because I was expecting to read the closure of the story rather than just assume what happened, and partly because of the number of pages left which ended up being notes, etc. I loved every single sentence on every single page. I totally fell in love with these characters! Bravo, Ruta! Bravo! 👏👏

The first part of the book brought out my inner child, even making me want to watch Disney's Alice in Wonderland again. Then I began to feel so incredibly sorry for Cath. Her mother was a horrible, wretched, selfish, person. I pitied Cath and felt saddened that she had no say over her own life. The ending seemed a bit rushed with her dramatic change in personality. That's why I gave it 4 stars.
And Jest. Oh, Jest! ❤😭

Holy moly that was incredible!! I started reading it last night and read until I fell asleep, then read it throughout the day today in the vehicle, and finished it this evening when I got home. I can't believe this is a debut novel! I'll read anything this author writes in the future. I loved his storytelling; he sucked me in from the very beginning! Psychological thrillers aren't even my cup of tea. The only one I've ever liked is Verity. Bravo!

Such a fun book! After all the heavy novels I've read recently, I needed something light and out of my normal genre of historical fiction. This was the perfect choice! This was my April Kindle First Reads pick. I haven't had much luck with those recently, so imagine my delight when devouring this one! I ended up reading it whenever I could, even in the vehicle! I loved everything about it, but most of all I loved how real it was. Great read!

Read this book! One of our librarians told me to read this on several occasions. I finally read it was fabulous!!!! It is the true story of Helene Hannemann. She was a German nurse married to a Gypsy musician with 5 children, including one set of twins. She voluntarily went to Auschwitz-Birkenau when her husband and children were taken, because she wouldn't let them go without her. She became a favorite nurse of Dr. Josef Mangele's. Fabulous book!

Wow!!!!! What an emotionally charged page turner! I loved this book so much that I thought about it when I wasn't reading it. I brought it with me to work to read on breaks, and even took it with me inside Lowe's to read while my husband shopped. This would be a fantastic book club selection.

Wow!!! This book took me by surprise! It isn't one I would have normally picked, yet I was so engrossed with it that I read 2/3 of it in the first sitting!!! You need to read this page turner, but don't start it until you can afford to lose some sleep for a day or two. You won't want to put down this book, except maybe to smack Maurice. He is such a wicked character whom you will love to hate! What a fantastic ending to a brilliant novel!

This book was incredibly engaging, very realistic, and I cared deeply for Henry and Clare. I thought about the book often whenever I wasn't reading it, and I cried at the end. For those reasons I give it 5 stars and rank it among my favorite books. ❤

I'm late to the party. 😂 I've never even seen this movie. My friend's mother passed away and she gave me a number of her books. This was one of them. The Goodreads reviews are spectacular, and I love WWII novels (well, any historical novel, really), especially the ones based on true stories. I have a feeling this is going to be great!

This book was ok - until the end. I did not like the cliché ending to what was otherwise a passable book. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it, but the ending could've been written in a more original way instead of something we have seen in books and movies hundreds of times. It was so tacky and incredibly unbelievable. I am so irritated by this ending that I actually wrote a review, which is something I never do.

I remember when I was a kid my mom loving this movie, but saying I was too young for the content. (Which I was.) I will be 39 in three months and just finished this book. I am not a fan of tv or movies (except on rare occasions like Outlander) but this book was so incredible that I may watch this movie someday. The only negative thing I can say is I shouldn't have waited so long to read it.
