The House on Mango Street | Sandra Cisneros

This book is a “must have” for every First generation/Late generation American Latinos. To read the anecdotes that detail the loss of our mother tongue, the barriers of femininity and the flourishing of womanhood, along with the dual identity of poverty and humility, this book had me wanting more. Painting love languages of coming of age with the harsh reality many young girls and women face.

megnews I loved this. 3y

This book is not your typical “befriend the girl with cancer” book. There‘s no big meaningful lesson that‘s written out in flirtatious sentences. The narrator is obsolete in the grand scheme of things but overall, “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” is a well written coming of age story with no clear objective as to what the lesson is. Definitely good laughs to draw from

Super cute book about the science behind romance and match making. This book made me fall in love with romance novels again!

Phenomenal book about the implications of what it means to be raised by an emotionally unavailable parent, how to learn from this relationship, and guidance to healing. Gibson‘s book has become vital to my sessions and a must-read for those struggling with emotionally stunted parents!
