Just got kindle unlimited again for the first time in years. I saw this book on an Instagram page that followed me and I knew I needed to read it. I‘m so excited to be out of my reading funk and putting my kindle to good use for the first time in a couple months.

Crazeedi Enjoy your book! Glad you are reading again! 4d

This one was outside of what I normally read but I was sucked in from start to finish. The story starts and ends with the mystery of how/why Dana gets sent back in time to protect Rufus. The accuracy of a day in the life of a slave is unsettling in the best of ways. While I am glad that Dana got returned back home, part of me wishes for more closure on the lives of the other slaves she had befriended.

Curling up with a book for the first time in awhile. Hoping I can get out of my non-reading funk. Any suggestions for what pulls you back into reading?

rachelm I switch genres or mediums. Sometimes a graphic novel or audiobook can be just what I need. Also, happy Litsy anniversary! 1w
Lyeelia That seems to have been just the fix I needed. Kindred isn‘t part of my normal genre. But I got sucked in last night and I‘m already halfway through it. Thank you!! 😁 1w

I was nervous about this one after being disappointed with A Whole New World and Beauty and the Beast being my all time favorite. I finished this book in 2 days. I was so happy at getting to know Maurice and Rosalind and their life before Belle was born. It was the fleshing out of characters that I wanted so desperately. It wasn‘t as dark but still had its moments. Excited to try the others in this series since this one gave me hope.

These pages are so pretty! I‘m definitely more into this one than I was with A Whole New World. I just started today and I‘m halfway through.

Started off slow but still managed to keep my interest and keep me holding out for more.
Disliked Finch as a character but not against getting to know him better in future stories.
I liked the darkness of the tales and the abnormal heroine.
Looking forward to more by this author.

Started this one a few days ago. Started off sorta slow but it's picked up and I'm sucked in.

For a “retelling“ I think the story had more potential if it was less connected to the movie and more as a standalone. The first 50+ pages were slow to get through since it quoted the movie almost word for word.
I will admit that the story did eventually pick up & got more interesting as it went along.

I think the author should've attempted to flesh out the characters more instead of trying to make a dark version of a light movie.

I absolutely loved this book! I‘ll admit that I felt it was a little slow in the beginning but I powered through and this is easily one of my favorites. The characters, setting and plot was just fantastic and the story was paced very well. I‘ve got the second book for this series sitting on my bookshelf and I can‘t wait to devour it. 🙂

Okay, so the book had some twists that I wasn‘t expecting and with an ending like that, I‘d be royally P.O.‘ed if I didn‘t have the third book! Also, just found out a 6th book in the series is due to release this year.

Larsson is easily becoming one of my favorite authors. His writing seems to drag on in places because he describes the boring everyday things that Blomkvist and Salander do and with any other series I would hate it. But I love knowing what Salander gets up to in her free time and seeing their development as a whole.

CoffeeNBooks I often write in my books. I love being able to go back and quickly find my notes, favorite quotes, etc. 11mo
BarbaraJean It depends on the type of book for me. I don‘t usually underline or notate fiction anymore, although I used to do it all the time when reading for literature classes. Now, I usually only mark nonfiction—I‘ll underline or bracket favorite quotes or write thoughts in the margin. 11mo

Finally getting back to this one after 2 years. Palahniuk‘s mind is a beautifully terrible place to explore.

Determined to finish the Dorothy Must Die series but The End of Oz has that same slowness to it that Yellow Brick War did. I‘m hoping it‘ll pick up as I move along instead of feeling like a chore.

I love this version of Oz even as devastating as it is. I was able to knock out the first two books in this series in about 3 days but this one took me close to a week. I‘m not sure what was missing in this one but something wasn‘t able to keep me sucked in as well as the others. It was still a great read and once I powered through the hump, I was sucked in again and finished it in no time.

“...The oceans are rising, people are fighting more and more wars every day, plants and animals are dying out, every other week some kid takes one of his parents‘ guns to school and starts shooting. . . .” I stopped short at the look on Nox‘s face. “The world I grew up in is gone, too,” I said quietly. “But that doesn‘t mean I‘m going to give up on it. Because if you give up—then what is there left to live for?”

New here so I just wanted to throw a little something into the world. This is Porkchop and her snores are the constant background noise to my reading. Currently on the 3rd Dorothy Must Die book and it‘s been such a struggle to leave Oz.
