On my list to read..
I am planning to read this one next…
I loved it!
“Named a Best Historical Novel of 2024 by The Sunday Times, The Independent, and BookPage A Parade and Christian Science Monitor Best Book of June“This charming fable is at once a love story that skips through six centuries, and also a love song to the timeless craft of glassmaking.”
I always enjoy Karen White books with her fun dialogue, notes on architectural history, ghosts and romance. This book takes place in New Orleans instead of Charleston and follows Nola, the daughter of Jack and Melanie.
I didn‘t find it as compelling as the Charleston book series that she started with but it was still an entertaining, engaging novel. It would be a good vacation or beach read. 🏝️ 📕
I normally love Jodi Picoult‘s books but this one I found tedious. She questions Shakespeare‘s authorship and drones on about how women don‘t get enough credit. I didn‘t feel invested in the characters at all and began to skim.
This was my first Barbara Kingsolver novel, and I enjoyed her vivid imagery and clever storytelling. She brought Appalachian history, anecdotes and logic together in a memorable and very readable way.
