Another trilogy Shusterman universe? Yes please!
I‘m just flying through this. Engaging, simple prose dealing with real life issues.

I haven‘t updated my progress in a bit. I blame the characters from this story, they have been poor influences ... Lifestyles of the Rich and Snooty, mixed with some #FirstWorldProblems and dollop of #BlackLivesMatter. To borrow a turn of phrase that today‘s wacky kids enjoy: it was super cringy... I was sure if I was supposed to laugh a few times. I usually let out a low chuckle, but that‘s just how I roll
I like the setup/conceit of this easy, breezy book that I can easily fold into middle grades reading for next year.
The subject matter maybe similar, but what sets books like this apart is the commitment of the authors to the voice of the characters. There are no preachy sermons in this book. Only honest, vulnerable words from “the kids” in the story.
Good job by the authors to create a claustrophobic vibe with word choices. You can feel the walls closing in on the girls in the best metaphorical sense.
I was struck more by Stone‘s writing style than the content, which to be sure is top notch YA. There‘s such an economy of words in the prose... some of the biggest moments in the book happened “off screen”... which was absolutely fine by me!
This is getting very interesting now, as I barrel toward the halfway point of the book ... but I‘ll tell you what, all these references to “Tito” takes right out the story and to my life as a 10-year old boy cheering on Tito Santana in the WWE!
Nice tip of the hat to mystery solvers of the past (although the omission of the Scooby Gang is something I take issue with)... solid setup for future mythology as well!
Such a solid grasp of the nuances, or lack thereof, of surviving middle school/life. Laughs, emotions and lessons.. great stuff!😋😊🤓🔥🤔😇😎👍
I‘m shipping these two fine creations as I finish up this who-done-it with some teenage sass thrown in for good measure.
Is it wrong that I am casting the movie version of this story with 7th graders from my classroom... and having a devilishly great time doing it?😎😇🔥🤔😋👍
Got this one on the strength of his last outing “Mrs Bixby‘s last Day”... good grasp of middle school voice so far with the comedy and emotion that made “Mrs Bixby so good.”
This book was so much fun! I was/am such a huge fanboy. The struggle of a character to genuinely find a comfortable group they can be themselves with is good literature in 2020 or 1920.
The obsessive world of fan fiction and fan art... great stuff... have to slow down and savor the last 100 pages.
Interesting behind the scenes stuff about Steve Carrell‘s exit ... #booknerd
Comic Con with an extra layer of ship... #quarentineRead #booknerd #readingIsFUNdemental through p.129
There are so many things that could still happen in this book. #loveit #booknerd #quarentineRead #readingisFundemental
Too much to read, too little time ... #multitasking #readingisFUNdemental
