This week my anxiety has been very high and this quote from the author completely rang true for me. The protection of having a book to retreat to was invaluable.

This book grabbed me from the first page. Racism is a disease and it is incomprehensible that we have yet to cure it. This bible verse quoted in the book spoke to me. We must not give u, we must not stop challenging these ideas.

LoverOfLearning Ohhhh this is my next read. I'm currently reading 4 books and i want to finished at least 2 before I start Darktown! 2mo
Mel01 It was so good!!! I‘m heading to the library today to grab the sequel! 😊 1mo

Picked this up from a new wee bookshop Schrodingers Books in Petone. Gorgeous cover and a book about books, the best kind.

This book is absolute torture to read. On one hand, I can‘t put it down. On the other, I don‘t want it to end! Very well written, Stephen King-esque with recognisable tropes. Oh.so.good!

Have been stuck in a reading rut lately, this stood out to me at the library this morning so thought, why not?! Has a ‘Girl on the train‘ vibe, not sure if it‘s as predictable as I think or if I‘ll be pleasantly surprised. Stay tuned

I have just finished this little gem. It‘s the story behind the famous painting ‘Christina‘s World‘ by Andrew Wyeth. It made me think of a beautiful old house in Hastings, NZ. I love the idea of the stories behind this house so much that I commissioned a painting of it. The photo here is of my painting not the one in the book. One day someone might write the story behind this one. Might even be me 😊 🏠 📖

Unfortunately, I got sucked in by the hype of this book. Oh, and the pretty cover. It was slow and while I liked Anna and felt for her as a child, I really couldn‘t connect. I was really turning pages just to end it. I should have bailed.

This book needed a trigger warning. The author depicts the manipulative relationship between an abusive mother and innocent child so accurately it made me alternate between sobbing and throwing the book. Eleanor is a strong character and I felt such a connection with her journey. Powerful reading but I could have done with a heads up to deal with the emotional fall out.
