What I enjoy most about Sarah Crossan‘s work is how powerful and striking the simplicity of her poetry is at expressing the rawness of human experience. Moonrise is no exception to this. Chronicling the countdown to Ed Moon‘s execution on death row, the story is told through his brother Joe‘s eyes as he spends one last summer with Ed. Crossan‘s depiction of the effects on the families of prisoners is thought provoking and very much needed 👍🏼🌙
