The Passenger | Lisa Lutz
Pickpick

I really like Lutz‘s books, but there is something about the way she writes that makes me think her books are humorous. And I guess they are not really. This one was quite sad, a bit suspenseful, but I suppose because the opening premise was ridiculous, I went in thinking I would laugh more. Still a good book, and I always want to read her next one.

Very quick read, but interesting and insightful. Working with students with autism, this let me look at behaviours from their perspective. It made me think about things differently, which is always a good thing. Lots of sticky notes of “ah ha” moments in this book.

I really enjoy this series. They unfold gently and softly, high is rare in a murder mystery novel. Much of what Jejeune does and thinks is internal and mysterious. They are quiet books.

Case Histories: A Novel | Kate Atkinson

I spent a lot of time wondering how the stories would connect, and they did, but loosely. I loved the descriptions of everyday, mundane things.

This was a beautiful, amazing book. I am so sad that I am done. I cried reading this book, and felt agonizing sadness while reading it. I felt betrayal, grief, joy, exhilaration...emotions ran the gamut.
