With a title page like that, and sentences like "Then our eyes meet and we both crack up like we're made of the same air", how could I not love this? This novel surprised me - It's definitely YA with the "does he like me?" drama, but it's super well done and totally adorable.

"I wondered if these women knew how much easier their lives would be if they did all this stuff for themselves". Haha, Elka is such an awesome character!! I'm liking her (and this book) more and more as I keep reading!

#somethingforsept #septphotochallenge I have a bit of a thing for works of translated fiction. There's just something about a (well-done) translation that adds a new dimension and/or perspective to the language. Things being described in a way I've never seen before, etc. Kobo Abe in particular is one of my favourite authors for the way his crazy plot lines seem so utterly realistic and normal. ❤️

vivastory Abe is an author I've wanted to explore more. I read and loved Box Man. 7y

I didn't love this as much as I was expecting to. It was suspenseful, head-spinning, action packed and intriguing. I blew through it over two days so that says something, but I never really felt invested in the characters, I guess? Everyone seems to have loved it, so maybe I just missed something. 🤔

I loved this book SO much! I can't even talk about it without gushing so I'll just say it's about love and unconventional relationships. The characters will stay with me for a loong time. So many feelings! 😭❤️

Michreads I'm reading it right now and feel the same way. I'm reading in small installments because it's so good. 8y

This book is incredible! I read it years ago but never got around to reading The Twelve. Now that City of Mirrors is out I wanna finish the trilogy, but can't remember any details from The Passage. Re-reading it is as pleasurable as the first time!
Please tell me the rest of the trilogy holds up!!
