Pickpick

So many turning points. A very convoluted narrative with tremendous character arcs--a very wise young protagonist vying against a diabolicaĺ antagonist for the affection of a broken, but privileged self-professed “superwoman.“ The nine year old E.J. meets the much older Mr. Red, in a fight to the finish. Will the surreptitious wedding supercede E.J.'s plan of stealing his mother (Dionne) from the irreparable Mr. Red? The answer lies with Dionne.

Pickpick

Joshua Gramson, professor and biographer, pens the perfect story of one of the most acclaimed disco divas of the free world. From his modest beginnings in 1950s Watts, to his meteoric rise as a performer headlining San Fran's Filmore theater troop, The Cockettes, later becoming a bandleader of his own rock group, and chanteuse at favorite SF haunts, Sylvester James life is chronicled with spirit and intelligence. A+
