On Audio for MBH bookclub - I think I would have tuned in better reading with my eyes. Great ending.

For MBH bookclub, good - not great. Two narrators on audio, which I liked, but I was sad not to hear the woman‘s voice more. Story felt predictable.

The Summer Book | Tove Jansson

Read this for Mol‘s bookclub (same as Cantoras) - very Steinbeck but a little girl and Gulf of Finland. Great imagery and cherry scenes - some great humor. Curious about her comic.

Cantoras: A Novel | Carolina De Robertis

I love this book!! I also highly recommend the Lit Hub interview with De Robertis. It made me so curious to travel to Uruguay - beautiful characters, character development and resilience in the face of tragedy, all set in beautiful ocean landscape.

I thought it was okay? Some really great glimmers I loved but overall had a hard time tracking and wasn't super into it. For Molly‘s bookclub.

For Bham Feminist Bookclub - good!! I think I‘m looking for more theory over anecdotes but important argument aligning American racism with caste systems of India & Germany. In the epilogue, she lists and celebrates different athletes & talented people who we should be able to celebrate regardless of background or race - but what about those who aren‘t famous/talented/best of the best? Will be a good discussion!

Amazing experience on audio! Dunno how he did that. Hope this read makes me a more compassionate student and teacher. Oberlin & Vassar connections.

For Molly‘s bookclub - loved and loved the vignettes/overlapping stories. No punctuation, no problem.
