Skyhunter | Marie Lu
Pickpick

skyhunter is a solid ya fantasy novel, with good plot and action. however, it is slightly predictable and there seems to be no real struggles for the characters. the relationships between talin and her friends are super cute and i really enjoyed reading about their friend group. i enjoyed reading it although a lot of parts didn't feel very fleshed out.

Mehso-so

this was such a cute story and i really enjoyed reading the perspective of a lockdown from london! the writing flowed pretty smoothly throughout the story, making it an easy read. while i enjoyed the multiple povs, i felt that they were very shallow and i couldn't really connect with any of the characters. honestly, many of the characters felt annoying to me. overall, the concept seemed very interesting but the execution fell flat.

i loved the concept of this book so i was super excited to get my hands on an arc! i haven't read anything quite like this book and wouldn't pick it up normally. this was an engrossing novel that had multiple twists and turns i never expected. i enjoyed it even though i was pretty confusing for me, which is why i'm only rating it four stars. nevertheless, i would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a creative and engaging novel to read!

Ace of Spades | Faridah Abike-Iyimide
Pickpick

i loved the synopsis for this book and was super interested in reading it! it centers around two black highschoolers in an all-white school, where the rich, elite, and powerful attend. the mystery and suspense kept me intrigued and tackles important topics in today's society, such as racism, homophobia, and white supremacy. overall, i really loved this book and would recommend this book to anyone looking for a ya thriller!

overall, i loved the author's writing style and the way she wrote each pov. i liked how the themes of a post-apocalyptic world were explored, environmental issues, climate change, and new technologies. i devoured it despite it's flaws and it did not disappoint! i deeply recommend this to anyone looking for a thrilling novel.
