Pickpick

I‘m rating this a pick but I totally get it might not be for everyone because of the lockdown AND pineapple on pizza debate themes. It was a rom com despite all that and I liked the various stages and types of romance the setting allowed. I did laugh out loud quite a few times and commiserate with a few characters

The weather outside is frightful so I‘m basically just going to read all day. My biggest issue with this book currently is a character in it quarantining with a boyfriend of 4 years is flipping out because he ordered pizza with pineapple on it. “I don‘t even know who he is anymore!” Now another character is asking their boyfriend this question “how do you feel about pineapple on pizza ?” This book might be awful

mcctrish @NikkiM5 it just seems so bizarre 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y
BookBelle84 I tried this one and couldn't do it. I wasn't sure if it was the actual book or if I've spent so much of the last 2 years hearing about COVID I really don't want to read about it as well. 2y

mcctrish @BookBelle84 that‘s exactly what my husband said when he saw it 🤣 between the pandemic and the the weird pineapple on pizza story lines this isn‘t the best book choice out there 2y
julesG Pineapple on pizza must be a European thing. I quite like it. But, I was introduced to it early on. Btw, it's normally plain pizza with just ham for topping with a few small pieces of pineapple. What I had problems wrapping my mind around was plain pizza with a Camembert/brie cheese and banana topping - it's my bestie's favourite and makes me shudder. 2y
mcctrish @julesG I‘m 🇨🇦 and “Hawaiian” pizza is everywhere pizza is sold ( usually ham, bacon, mushrooms and pineapple) my kids LOVED it when they were young, their first choice always. I would eat it hands down before Brie and banana 😳 I feel like anchovies are a more logical divisive pizza topping ( I love them) 2y
julesG I'm in ??, which means I flinch at anchovies on pizza. ? Also, bacon and mushrooms on a "Pizza Hawaii"? 2y
mcctrish @julesG it‘s pretty good 😊 kind of a summer pizza truthfully 🤣🤣 2y

Wanting some lighthearted reads after A Little Life but I‘m not sure pandemic based romance is the best choice ( in Ontario the Minister of Education and Premier have decreed mask mandates are over after our break this week and any school boards who wanted to not follow their decree and keep masking rules in place are running into STRONG push back)

Bklover I had a very hard with my next read after A Little Life! 2y
mcctrish @Bklover I want lighter but A Little Life was so well written I‘m having a hard time with basic level dialogue 2y

I received an early copy of this book from netgalley. Doesn't influence my review. I was hooked on this rom-com from the beginning. I have not read anything as current to the times as this. It's about an apartment complex that goes under lockdown during the pandemic. It explores how the quarantining can affect different people and their relationships.

this was such a cute story and i really enjoyed reading the perspective of a lockdown from london! the writing flowed pretty smoothly throughout the story, making it an easy read. while i enjoyed the multiple povs, i felt that they were very shallow and i couldn't really connect with any of the characters. honestly, many of the characters felt annoying to me. overall, the concept seemed very interesting but the execution fell flat.

Very very cute! I really enjoyed how everyone was somehow tied together and that all the endings weren‘t perfect happy endings. It was great to see the conflicts and how they worked through them during lockdown. And Mr. Harris was pretty funny.
