"A raw, unflinching memoir that took courage to write"
What a good 1st book to read for 2023, I finished it in 9 hours it was that good, I couldn't put the book down.
I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Was severely disappointed when I finished this series, it became apart of my day and now its done. Really looking forward to seeing what comes next.
When I wasn't reading this book all I could think about was reading it. When I was reading this book I lost all sense of time (which did make me late for work on one occasion 😅).
Haunted by the terrible choices she had to make to save her people, Rin's only reason for living is to take revenge on the traitorous Empress who sold her homeland to its enemies.
After all, making war is all she knows how to do...
'Parallels with modern Chinese history resonate deeply and darkly in this blood-soak epic of orphans and expresses, gods and shamans'
Beautiful!
The review left by S.A.CHAKRABORTY sums up the book in one.
'A fiercely and unapologetically feminist tale of endurance and revolution set against a gorgeous unique magical world'
Talk about addictive, I couldn't put the book down and was immensely sad when I finished it. Looking forward to reading the second book.
As someone who loves history, I found this book utterly fascinating and incredibly sad. It's also humbling to think about how current events will be written about in the future, seeing as this was just only 100+ years ago so much changed so quickly.
From the moment of picking this up, I couldn't part from it. If anyone is looking into researching or getting into inspirational women this is a must read.
"How marvelous that she refused to try to fit into the boys club that she was unapologetically herself & marched into that male dominated space in her heels. That's some badass shit."

Not really a quote, but everytime I read this I end up singing and it brings great joy 💙
