Everything that Angela Brazil does best was included in this story. An engaging heroine, girls from all over the world and pulling together (in wartime) for a common cause. I loved it.

This is when the boy focus of the Trebizon books really kicks in. I didn't mind this because it's realistic plus Rebecca is always so much more than the boys she is romantically interested in. Always her own person.

KathyWheeler In the last Lincoln Rhyme novel I read, I decided I really didn‘t like Lincoln at all. He was just mean to people for absolutely no reason — including Amelia. And mean in ways that amounted to abuse. I haven‘t read any since. I think that book was The Burning Wire. I might read this to see if I still feel that way. (edited) 1y
johncadams @KathyWheeler I haven't read that one. I am happy to report that Lincoln's behaviour to his wife was very kind and pleasant in this novel, so it's good to see that he appears to have changed for the better. 1y
KathyWheeler @johncadams Thank you. I don‘t need him to be nice all the time — that would be unrealistic— but this was ridiculous. 1y
