"Ingrid Palamede never returns to places she's lived in the past. For her, 'whole neighborhoods, whole cities, can be ruined by the reasons you left.' But when her boyfriend Howard, en route to Aspen, breaks things off out of the blue, she's forced to return to her childhood home of Fresno, California. Back in the real wine country, where grapes are grown for mass producers like Gallo and Kendall-Jackson, Ingrid must confront her aging parents and their financial woes, soured friendships, and blissfully bad decisions"--

Mehso-so

I thought it was good. A little slow, but that's the only complaint I have about it. I liked reading about farming life. Some people are just not who you think they are and others can be blind unfortunately.

ValerieAndBooks Thanks! We don't have that here but I think they're part of the same company that Giant is under, so I'll check my local Giant 👍 8y

Pickpick

This is a must for anyone who has ever spent time in California's Central Valley. In the rich tradition that includes #WilliamSaroyan & #JohnSteinbeck, Taylor uses incredibly familiar characters in the saga of one family-owned vineyard. While much writing of #California focuses on glamour of Los Angeles or the tech world of Silicon Valley, she beautifully illustrates how the family farming is inexorably linked to California's economy and history.
