Great and tragical love story. Exactly what I expected from Erich Maria Remarque ❤️

This is the 10th book of Remarque‘s that I‘ve read and it‘s one of his better works. The premise is interesting: a refugee meets a stranger who has boarding passes for a ship bound for America. They make a deal that if the refugee keeps the man company for a night and listens to his story, the passes are his. As is typical for Remarque, an engrossing tale filled with tension, bravery, and sadness follows as people struggle to survive. 4.5/5

The night in Lisbon | Erich Maria Remarque

Some day perhaps our time will be known as the age of irony. Not the witty irony of the eighteenth century, but the stupid or malignant irony of a crude age of technological progress and cultural regression.

tea_stankovic I've read a couple of his books. I love them all. All his books are telling the truth. My recommendations ! 😃 @Eyelit 8y
