I really like this whole series, yet this third book tops as best.

This series has all my favorite magics and magical beings: necromancy (of course), and healers, musicians/storytellers and the power of music, shape-shifters, vampires, seers...etc. I mean, this story really seems to have it all.

Ok, time to dust off book four of this series...

Mehso-so

I have a flu, so I wanted to read something not especially demanding. I remembered this series, which I was putting off finishing for just those reasons—it‘s predictable, and so saturated with all the typical fantasy tropes it‘s dripping.

It didn‘t disappoint, and was just what I needed. Also, the plot was better structured this time, though the cliffhanger at the end was mean—sorry, but half a star off just for that. I hate cliffhangers.

3.0/5

This was an excellent continuation of the story from the first time books. Martin really gets you invested in the new conflict. And the cliffhanger at the end really made me wish I had brought book 4 with me on this trip!

It's a beautiful day for outdoor reading. I'm squeezing in a few chapters before d&d.
