This was the second YA novel described to me as a modern day Handmaids Tale, and I liked this one much better. It was believably frightening, and definitely a page turner. It doesn‘t approach the level of world building or the beautiful writing style of the Atwood classic, but it does tap into a type of misogyny that exists today and that we need to be mindful of lest it actually gain power the way it does in this story.
