Highland Chieftain | Hannah Howell
4 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
The Murrays are back in this thrilling new tale from New York Times bestselling author Hannah Howell . . . Responsible for protecting her younger siblings from their abusive father, Bethoc Matheson is in no position to rescue another soul in Scotland. Yet when she sees a bleeding man on the verge of drowning, that’s exactly what she does, securing him safely in a cave where she can return day after day to tend to his wounds. Sir Callum MacMillan can scarcely believe such a slight lass as Bethoc could save him from the grasp of death. But he knows the telltale marks of an angry fist on her skin, and he knows she has the soul of a fighter within her feminine frame. Raised to be a protector of the weak by his Murray clansmen, Callum would prefer to be the one saving her—and save her, he will. If he can first survive the treacherous attack that led him into her irresistible arms . . . Praise for Hannah Howell and her Highland novels… “Few authors portray the Scottish highlands as lovingly or colorfully as Hannah Howell.” —Publishers Weekly “Expert storyteller Howell pens another Highland winner.” —RT Book Reviews

Hannah Howell writes some of my favorite highland historicals. She writes great characters, major danger and steamy scenes. This one was exactly what I expect. It‘s so good!

Bethoc is out walking and avoiding her abusive father when she finds an injured Callum. She helps hide him and a relationship develops. He helps her with her sister and brothers and other danger in her village. He‘s just unsure of himself based on childhood abuse he experienced.

Literary_Siren LOVE Hannah Howell. I‘ve read all her books. I wish she‘d write more for her Wherlocke series. 4y

So it‘s a snow day here so my nephew didn‘t have pre-K. Since I‘m not working I came over to watch him while my brother and SIL work. He‘s a silly 5 year old. And I managed to finish this book before I drive over. I enjoyed it. I was in the mood for a Scottish romance.

Binge watching Versailles in Netflix today after getting some packing done. I boxed up the last of my books - minus several to have on hand. 😢My bookshelves look so sad. I kept these three out and now I‘m trying to decide which to read. Any suggestions?

I loves this book. Hannah Howell is an automatic buy for me. Even though her stories tend to run the same path just with different characters, it never bores me. Each character is so uniquely different you don't seem to notice. love her books!
