I finally decided to do a quick scan of my read books, and I do mean quick!
72 books read:
I started out the year trying to concentrate on female authors/issues & I‘ve done pretty good there: 31= 43%
Black: 7= 10%
Non-Black POC: 6 = 8%
Indigenous: 0
LGBTQIA+: that‘s a lot harder with a quick scan without doing a deep dive in each author‘s profile, so 1 that I know for sure, because it was biographical & she talked about it, otherwise ??? = 1%

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GingerAntics I know, and some authors aren‘t “out” about their personal lives on their author bios, for obvious reasons, and they shouldn‘t need to be just for my diversity counts. I know I‘ve read about a few great LGBTQIA+ characters, so I‘m happy with that diversity appearing. 4y
GingerAntics Yeah, that‘s where I‘m torn. If I don‘t know an author is part of the LGBTQUIA+ community, but wrote a really good character that is, should it count? I think it should, but then I also get the own voices argument. I also don‘t think anyone should be out to the world if they don‘t want to be or can‘t. 4y
