pickI‘m so glad I got a chance to rediscover this comic after seeing it years ago. The author is a Black woman who loved magical girl stories growing up, and wanted to write a story where other Black girls could see themselves represented. It was fun to see the chosen ones/ alternate dimensions storyline playing out on a college campus, and I loved the friendships that were starting to build by the end of the volume. I‘ll definitely read V2!

Today's #Riotgrams about #Bookmarks kinda stumped me, because honestly I'm the kind of terrible bibliophile and librarian who usually just dog ears her books. But I did manage to scrounge up bookmarks I've picked up at library conferences and one that I got from the Vancouver comics art festival for AGENTS OF THE REALM, which I still have not read yet even though I've heard great things.
