Overall, this was a good book. However, if you are reading it cover to cover there are times it is dry and difficult to get through. I may have felt this way because I've read a lot of similar books recently, but I ended up resorting to skimming.

One of the most interesting things I learned in college was the development of home ec as a science-based way of improving women's access to rigorous higher education; promulgating more healthy, scientific, and efficient ways of running a household; and improving living conditions for all. Much like sororities, a complicated part of our educational history!
