The story itself is a pick. I love Monk and Nurse Hester, and since she‘s now moved into a lead role, I get to count it for #Booked2021. The mystery good with a twist I didn‘t remember. The audiobook however gets a major pan for an error in the recording (see my previous post). So - read it, but read it in print. #COVIDHeroes #NurseMC

Has anyone else ever had an audiobook where the recording was out of order? I‘m 75% done and it‘s clear that it‘s now skipping around. I don‘t know if it‘s a Hoopla thing or if it‘s a defective recording by Recorded Books. 🥺 Glad this is a reread and a library book. I think I‘d be mad if I paid for it.

If you love reading about wealthy, dysfunctional families this is a great entry point into a huge series. Lies, secrets, and cover-ups meet an unflinchingly competent nurse and suffer-no-fools detective. I enjoyed this one!

For my first 2017 read, I decided to start a new series. And because I've been impatiently waiting for Sherlock, a Victorian mystery series seemed appropriate. 🕵️🌂🇬🇧
