Don't Wake Up the Tiger
Don't Wake Up the Tiger | Britta Teckentrup
2 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
Tiger is fast asleep, but oh dear! She's lying completely in the way. Just how will the animals get past without waking her up? Luckily, Frog has an excellent idea and, holding his balloon, he floats right over sleeping Tiger! Fox is next, followed by Tortoise, Mouse and Stork, but it will be tricky for them all to get past without Tiger noticing! It's a good job that the reader is there to help keep Tiger asleep, isn't it? But where exactly are they going with all those big shiny balloons? Do you think it might be someone's birthday? Can you guess who?

Starting a weekly picture book recommendation with a group of FB friends, we're calling it #bookednesday! Figured I'd share this here too - it has super cute pictures, amazing typography, and a fun plot - where the other animals have to sneak past tiger. It's interactive, asking the reader to pet Tiger's belly when she starts to wake, blow on Mouse's balloon to help her soar over, etc. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lmstraubie I love this idea! Picture books are such a beautiful combination of art & words. I get so lost in them. 8y
howjessicareads Yes @lmstraubie - good ones are mesmerizing! 8y
Desha Yes...I use picture books/children's books when working with adult ESL students...they are so much fun and so often use a writing form that pulls the reader in and demands different "voices" and inflection while reading!! The students seem to really get a lot out of it...eventually I have them prepare their own children's book to read to the class. ???❤️ 8y
