I picked this Historical #Harlequin up, because the female protagonist was a #pirate! Reading McPhee's words made me fall in love with her writing; it's superb: she changes the characters by the end, raises the stakes meaningfully, puts believable obstacles in their path, and makes the romance elements almost secondary while being worth something her characters fight for. She packed a lot in 283 pages!
