1st of all thanks for organising Andrew, it must have taken time to respond to everyone's posts + it has been huge fun.
My final post & i debated shd it be rebus, bosch, thorne but in the end i went for an author i saw a couple of times and he was just the nicest i have ever seen, colin dexter. The signature was to wish me a happy birthday. And what a tv portrayal, in which colin always appeared.

Andrew65 Morse on TV got me into my passion for Detective and Crime fiction. John Thaw did such a great job, and a great partner in crime in Lewis. Great tv. All the series you mentioned are great. Thanks fir participating it has been great fun and picked up a LOT of new series. At some point we will do #Top20Standalones. 4y

Meh, I'm bailing. Morse says and thinks some pervy things, and I really don't care whodunnit in the story I started reading. I prefer my Morse in the form of Endeavour, when he is a nice young man in the 1960s.

LauraBrook Wow, having not read any Morse yet, I'm sort of surprised! I prefer Inspector Lewis and Endeavor to Morse anyway, but I'm still shocked by this. Hmmm, where my sole Morse book...? 7y
rabbitprincess @LauraBrook He's not a full-on perv, but he will often comment (internally) on a female character's looks, often while interviewing them about the case. It's at least inappropriate. 7y
shanaqui I so agree. I hated this for that exact reason 7y
rabbitprincess @shanaqui It is making me inclined to remove any other Morses from my to-read list, although I might still try The Wench is Dead, which has a setup similar to Josephine Tey's The Daughter of Time. 7y

Just borrowed this from my grandma. In light of Colin Dexter's passing, it will be a melancholy-tinged read.
