Welcome to My Planet
Welcome to My Planet: Where English Is Sometimes Spoken | Shannon Olson
5 posts | 4 read
Life just isn't The Love Boat for nearly-thirty Shannon, the tongue-in-cheek heroine of Welcome to My Planet. Credit cards don't pay themselves, no obvious mate has appeared with her name pinned to his collar, and a job doing new-product research for a fledgling software company doesn't quite make ends meet in the meaning-of-life department. Then there's the loser boyfriend, another boyfriend, her therapist, and unforgettably, Shannon's mom, Flo, with her unrecognizable leftover casseroles and quirky advice for her daughter. In a fit of debt and with a bruised heart, Shannon moves back home to witness the day-to-day tremors of her parents' own marriage. This is a dark-and-light tale-freshly witty and poignant-told by a young woman with a universal touch.

Pickpick

I enjoyed this. It's not laugh out loud funny but I found it amusing. At the same time it was a little more serious than I anticipated, but it was a good mix of fluff and serious. While I may not run out and hunt down everything else the author has written, if I come across any of her other books I will definitely pick them up.

Typos are annoying of course, but whoever read this book before me felt the need to point it out and correct it. I actually had to reread the paragraph because the correction distracted me. 100 pages in and this is the first typo so it‘s not like the book is riddled with them.

LiteraryinPA Ha, I‘m not for writing in public books BUT a typo‘s a typo… 3mo

1. This is so funny. The first post on this book as I thought of Shannon to answer this question is me talking about how much this character is like me. I should really reread the book and see if we still sync up.
2. I should not be eating what I‘m eating, I‘m sleepy and some member of family for various reasons.
3. Smell....it annoying. 🤪

Eggs Thanks for playing 🙌🏻👃👏🏻📚 4y

1. The man character and I share a name and enough character traits that my BFF said this book was about me.
2. This is a difficult question for me. I don‘t typically remember villains or stick to books with characters I don‘t like.
3. There is a local store call The Book Exchange that I love. Second place would go to 2nd and Charles
4. Hi Littens! Hope you‘re having a wonderful day!
