The eagerly-awaited second novel from the author of the highly praised Cold Water, is a powerful and moving study of urban disaffection, female friendship and the longing for love and redemption.

Mehso-so

Just finished reading this for my personal #feedthewell readathon - it took a while to get into and it kind of lost me at the end but I liked the middle. It's about a young woman and her feelings about herself and her best friend and various men. The best parts are all the drinking scenes in bars in Manchester. Such disaffection, so gloom - I think I need to read some earnest kidlit next...

Doing my own personal readathon today as I've been struggling to write lately and I think I need to #fillthewell. You can watch my Instagram Stories for the full story (naturally). I'm determined to finish this first. Does anyone else love finding copies of books with wear and tear but hate damaging those they've got new? I love these creases but if I did this to a new book 😵

JazzFeathers That would be me. I love used book with a history, but when l buy a new one, l'm carefull not to open it too hard because l might crack the spine ;) 7y
juliannebenford @JazzFeathers Yes! Exactly! I'm so disappointed in myself if I do accidentally crack the spine! 7y
JazzFeathers @juliannebenford l'm so happy to know l'm not the only one ;) 7y

#currentlyreading - this cover photographs so well! It's about a woman who returns to Manchester after a spell in New York. It's slow paced but I really like the writing style.
