This one really resonated! Perfect happysad. I want to give this to every child and adult I know. I‘m starting to expect I‘m always going to want to go out and buy Shaun Tan books after reading them.

A book about how there is always hope.
I usual Tan‘s illustrations are amazing.
#MarchMagic Day 19: #BookYouOftenRecommend - read this aloud for Shaun Tan recently with Arabic translation. There is no fanfare, no neat resolutions, no quick fixes in this narrative. I always have a quiet awed hush at the end of the book when I finish reading this in front of a huge adult crowd– a sharp intake of anticipation, a bated breath, a hint of more that the reader should resolve on his or her own.
