Your Medical Mind: How to Decide What Is Right for You | Jerome Groopman, Pamela Hartzband MD
4 posts | 2 read | 10 to read
An entirely new way to make the best medical decisions. Making the right medical decisions is harder than ever. We are overwhelmed by information from all sides—whether our doctors’ recommendations, dissenting experts, confusing statistics, or testimonials on the Internet. Now Doctors Groopman and Hartzband reveal that each of us has a “medical mind,” a highly individual approach to weighing the risks and benefits of treatments. Are you a minimalist or a maximalist, a believer or a doubter, do you look for natural healing or the latest technology? The authors weave vivid narratives of real patients with insights from recent research to demonstrate the power of the medical mind. After reading this groundbreaking book, you will know how to arrive at choices that serve you best.

Panpan

Mostly lengthy stories that weren‘t engaging and felt repetitive at times.

Pickpick

Groopman's previous book was enough endorsement for me. The structure of the book follows from the least of the difficult medical decisions to the most difficult. It acknowledges that choosing whether or not to take a medicine is considerably different than discussing what "no heroic efforts" means to a dying patient. Detailed patient stories illustrate concepts, and make the book more readable and heartfelt. Full review at www.TheBibliophage.com

This book talks about making decisions from medications, to surgeries, to end of life. It's got soulful patient stories, but also plenty of research. Review to come tomorrow. In the meantime, this quote.

Guess where I was today #PhillyLittens? It wasn't the same without you, although I had a lovely day with my husband and one of our sons. And also had some appointments with surgeons. Now I'm really confused, hence the book about making medical decisions.

Captivatedbybooks I was thinking about going there today at lunch lol 7y
