If you are going to feel stuffy, sweaty & gross & work anyway because you work from home, might as well haiku about it! 😉🤧
Stuffy, wheezy mess—
no camera day at work.
Sweat clings to jammies.

This was Compelling As Heck. Very well written, in a super accessible style (as one would expect from a successful investigative journalist) this is the Long Version of the story of Andrew Wakefield, the once-doctor who fabricated and captilised on fears that Vaccines caused autism-- launching the current era of anti-vax misinformation. Published before current pandemic, this was eerie & informative. #antivaxxers #medicine #malpractice #politics
Before reading this I wondered if Andrew Wakefield was just a bit misguided. I was wrong. The man is a despicable human being who has not only caused so much damage to the health of children and the wider community but has done so for his own gain. The man is not only a fraud but a conniving narcissist. Like so many truly evil people he has preyed on the vulnerable and continues to do so. It‘s a good read but the narrative is a bit choppy at times
An interesting listen, but sometimes above my head - so I might listen again in the future. Immunology is quite complex and there's still so much more to be discovered was a recurring theme. I was hoping to learn some info for personal use, but that was minimal. The narration was great, plus the author included some humor in the storytelling of the history of immunology.
Good thing we‘ve moved past this! (Where is that sarcasm emoji when we need it?!)

Heads up, Science nerds! While catching up on Fresh Air I ran into another great bookish interview. It‘s a book on immunology by an actual immunologist! The interview is great so far - I‘ll have to get this book. Sharing interview link for those interested: https://www.npr.org/2018/11/26/670793745/the-beautiful-cure-reveals-the-profound...
I was sick today! 😷🤧

This book talks about making decisions from medications, to surgeries, to end of life. It's got soulful patient stories, but also plenty of research. Review to come tomorrow. In the meantime, this quote.
