Great poetry book for the classroom. Cool read for young kids who want to know more about poetry and be interactive with the book. Can be a bit hard to read for young elementary kids because of the shapes the words make, but overall would use this inside my classroom.

This is a poetry book. It is a concrete poem which means they are more “playful“ and the words make shapes. Each poem inside the book is by a different author. The poem uses rhyming words, repetition, and alliteration. This makes it a great poem!

The poem “popsicle“ is a fun poem that is also in the shape of a popsicle. It talks about the different things that happen when you eat a popsicle such as sticky hands, dripping, and licking the popsicle.

This book of poems has a lot of corky and fun poems, I think any child can enjoy. They are about fun things such as popsicles, daydreaming, and fish. I would use this book in my classroom because it has a lot of potential and can be used in transitions in the classroom. When having children put their things away, you could read a poem from this book and make sure they know they have to be done by the end of the poem.

“A Poke in the I” was written by Paul B. Janeczko in 2001. This book was very interesting and I loved the way they organized the structure of their poems! I also really enjoyed the illustrations and the way the poem made me feel! I will definitely read this again!

This book would be great for younger children discovering poetry and specifically concrete poetry.

This poem book was a great book to read. Some of the poems were magnificent in the ways they form certain objects. Some of them use onomatopoeia and some use alliterations.

This P book would be a good book for GR. This unique collection of concrete poems would be better suited for upper elementary! ESOL 29. Offer a variety of reference materials at the students‘ instructional level for independent use. A Poke In The I is a P book the is full of concrete poems. This book would be a great daily RA to get your kids familiarized with different types of poetry and its also a way to model fluency. Scholastic talks about a few ways to use poetry in the classroom and I think this book would be perfect: https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/articles/teaching-content/bring-poetry-class....

kenyanellie You could have students create their own concrete poems after reading through this book. UDL 5.3: build fluencies with graduated levels of support for practice and performance and ESOL 29: Offer a variety of reference materials at the students‘ instructional level for independent use #ucflae3414f17 (edited) 7y
