Ticked: A Medical Miracle, a Friendship, and the Weird World of Tourette Syndrome | James A. Fussell, Jeffrey P. Matovic
1 post | 1 read
An inspirational tale of personal struggle with and triumph over Tourette syndrome, this is the story of Jeff Matovic and the radical treatment he sought to cure himself. After suffering from Tourette's for years--with his tics and outbursts getting progressively worse and with no results coming from drugs or physical or spiritual therapy--Jeff was able to convince his doctors and his insurance company to try a risky deep brain stimulation treatment, a surgery that involves the implantation of a pacemaker for the brain into his skull. Penned by a journalist who is also afflicted with Tourette's, this is the incredible story of a friendship that blossomed under their common experiences with this bizarre brain disorder. A complete discussion of the latest medical research of and treatments for Tourette's, written in accessible and easy-to-understand terminology, is also included.

It must be “ticked off Tuesday” or something. These are the type of days I️ wish I️ stayed home in bed rolling around in all my books. Please be kind to your customer service people, we don‘t control every situation and cussing us out will not make it happen any faster. Okay, my small rant is over. Hope you are all having a great day 🤗

laurieluna Sorry you've had to deal with that. I think people who believe treating customer service staff like that should get automatic bans from shops. I was always more willing to help those who were polite with their queries and complaints 7y
claffy_reads It takes so much patience to work in customer service. I applaud anyone who can handle getting cussed out all day without having a nervous breakdown. You deserve books and peace and quiet. 🤗📚 7y
Lreads I‘m sorry your day is rough. I hope you can go home soon and relax. 7y

Eggs I truly hope your day gets better 😊☺️ 7y
Tamra Boo hiss! More people need to keep in mind that the other person can‘t always fix your problems and it isn‘t personal. Frustration is one thing, rude is another. 7y
mjdowens It‘s all good really. I️ know I️ have certainly wanted to chew someone out especially when it came to my money. Day got better. Thank you my Litten pals for the mood boost💕👍 7y
effinprincess I hope your day improves! I try my best to not get angry with CSR's. 7y
kezzlou85 I used to work in customer service and it really does take some massive control. People can be so rude. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. 💖 7y
Karkar I used to work in retail and I hated this time of year. People were beyond rude and then the new year happens and it gets better. 7y
