Everyone who enters a marriage has a set of #expectations, but not necessarily the same kind…

There were several photos of him deep in a book in the corner. I'd remember when we first met, how I admired his ability to excuse himself at family gatherings and parties to read. Toward the end of our marriage, I had resented the hell out of it. Every indicator of David's illness, however subtle, had been there in the beginning for me to see. Yet I'd embraced the exuberance and rejected the depression. (It's called introversion, smarmy b*.)

This petty snob has no clue how she sounds talking about her ex's psychological issues. Her husband's lawyer had to tell her that no judge would grant a divorce while he was involuntarily committed for a suicide attempt? The story is interesting but I wonder how much his problems were exacerbated by his demanding witch of a wife. 😐

This memoir read like fiction and was an absolute page turner! Hamilton details life with her first husband, who was diagnosed as bipolar during their marriage and turned her life upside down. Recommended!
