Treasure and Treason
Treasure and Treason: A Raine Benares World Novel | Lisa Shearin
4 posts | 1 read | 3 to read
An ancient power. Hidden for millennia in a legendary city on an uninhabited continent, the Heart of Nidaar can harness the forces of nature itself. In the wrong hands, the artifact is a weapon that can command the power of the earth and seas to destroy all life. Just the type of power a sinister goblin brotherhood finds irresistible. In their hands, kingdoms will be forced to surrender to their rule. A team of royals and rogues. Chief mage (and nearly rehabilitated practitioner of black magic) Tamnais Nathrach is the perfect goblin duke to stop them. Along with elf pirate Phaelan Benares, these two have a roguish plan to sail to Aquas and snatch the Heart of Nidaar before it can fall into the wrong hands. After all, stealing hearts is what these two do best. Who cares if goblins and elves have been in a near constant state of war for centuries? This common enemy is enough motivation for some teamwork and a little professional competition. The adventure of a lifetime. Perhaps Tamnais and Phaelan have forgotten one small fact. Expeditions that sail to the continent of Aquas never return. Its a blighted wasteland filled with creatures from nightmare and Tamnais might have failed to mention that the Heart has guardians, an ancient race willing to use deadly force to keep themselves and the artifact hidden. Alliances are tested, courage is challenged, and nothing less than the future of all life in the Seven Kingdoms is at stake in the deadliestand most competitivetreasure hunt of all time.

I‘m pretty sure I‘m in the mood for Lisa Shearin‘s brand of secondary world UF, so I‘m diving into TREASURE & TREASON even though I still haven‘t read the last couple of Raine Benares novels. So far, she‘s given me enough recap that I feel caught up on the stuff I missed.

I‘m gonna post a book (or series) from my TBR every day until I‘ve shared the lot. No descriptions. No explanations. Just a whole bunch of books I haven‘t read yet.

This is Day 50.

Pickpick

My husband laughed at this cover, but the story is a lot of fun. this book is a continuation of the Raine Benares series, but told from Tam‘s point of view and is full of world development, character development, and adventure. It‘s a fast read and while not as funny as Raine‘s books, way more world development. I loved it, a great read for a rainy day. 4/5 stars

CrowCAH The back cover had me at pirate! The picture had me at tall ship!!! 7y

This book is so much fun for a book reader, little fun to bits about the joy of reading and books are scattered through out the book.

GlassAsDiamonds Ooh - Lisa Shearin! I‘m currently reading her SPI Files series, what‘s this one like? 7y
iread2much @GlassAsDiamonds it‘s the second part of the Raine Barnes series, and it‘s told from a different characters POV, so that‘s fun. It‘s a fun fantasy series and if you like the SPI files, I think you‘ll like this. The SPI files seem to recycle some of the plots form this series. 7y
GlassAsDiamonds @iread2much thanks! I was wondering if it was worth picking up, will keep that in mind!! 😊😊😊 7y
