Pickpick

Although the premise—a prisoner tattoos himself and gets a lecture from the heavily tattooed warden—is weak, the history of tattooing is rather thorough for such a slim tome.

Peddler410 I‘m going today to get the ball rolling on my first tattoo 🙂 7y
WanderingBookaneer @Peddler410 : 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Do you know what you want? 7y
Peddler410 I know the elements but not how to incorporate them — leaving that to the pro. My daughter is in the Chinese Immersion program at her school so my husband suggested I get her Chinese name. That led to getting our Chinese zodiac animals. So, 🐀 for me and ox for my daughter and husband. Her Chinese name will be in there as well. 7y
WanderingBookaneer @Peddler410 : Sounds nice. I look forward to seeing the finished product. I love that you said “first tattoo.” I can‘t wait to learn about the others. 7y
Peddler410 @WanderingBookaneer Let‘s not get ahead of ourselves here! 🤪 7y

Loved this cover!

julesG Do you also like what's inside the book? 7y
WanderingBookaneer @julesG : I‘m halfway through and it is interesting. I am now reading about the colonianist-mindset of explorers who brought back tattooed “natives” to exhibit them in their homelands. Since learning about human zoos, this practice makes my blood boil. 7y
julesG Human zoos are just as terrible as animals in captivity. Don't want to rant, but I hate all sort of zoos. 7y
WanderingBookaneer Agreed, @julesG ! I don‘t visit zoos, circuses with animals, or theme parks such as Sea World, Disney‘s Animal Kingdom, or Busch Gardens. I even declined to chaperone a school trip to Thailand this year because no one could tell me if the elephant sanctuary we were scheduled to visit offered elephant rides. 7y
