Not mysterious enough for me.
I liked the manuscript/beta-reading angle and the characters in the manuscript, but there were too many plot holes.

This is book 3 (?) of the #readathon.
#MarvellousMay @Andrew65
Sara has to fulfill her mother's dying wish, write the 5th book in a bestseller series. But Sara has doubts, on top of her fresh grief.
42% done - enjoying it very much.
Randy, the randy moose trying to hump a trailer.
I've been coughing tea several times today, already. I love Julia Kent's writing.
First ARC of the #MarvellousMay #readathon
A mystery written as a manuscript interspersed by feedback emails from a colleague. I could do without the feedback letters, because the characters of the manuscript are far more interesting, but I can see a plot twist coming. 😁
@Andrew65
Was only going to read this for a few minutes and then come back to it later; I postponed everything and read the book.
It's as predictable as a romance is, but it has snarky banter, flawed characters and lots of literary references.
Nearly 60% through this and I know I'll have to take a break from the #BlackDaggerBrotherhood afterwards.
@GingerAntics
The 9 day mid-month #MarvellousMay #readathon starts tomorrow.
My goals, dear @Andrew65, are
📘 Read and review(!) 4 ARCs
📙 Read 1 physical copy off the shelves
📗 Read this months book club book, tagged. It is also an ARC for me, but I'm not counting it toward the 4 that I want to read.
That's 6 books. Should be doable.
I just wanted to read a few pages while drinking my tea. Tea's gone cold, I might have caught too much sun on my arm, and it isn't even 10am.
#NetGalley last minute #ARC, book was published in the UK yesterday (?)

Ravi MacLeod is training to become an engineer. He sees a girl floating outside the airlock without a spacesuit. He has weird dreams and headaches to burst his skull. But he's the perfect person to make sure the fleet of three generation ships will make it to Tau Ceti. His familial background and his training help him find out who's sabotaging the mission.

About an hour left in the tagged book.
We're enjoying the morning sunshine, but certainly not for long. My dragon hide burns easily.

Final book of the #20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
#BlackDaggerBrotherhood book 5
This got weird towards the end, did not see this coming. @GingerAntics
Hooded sweater for my son finished while I listened to the tagged book. #LitsyCrafters @Catsandbooks #audiosewing
Started the tagged book for #20in4 #readathon @Andrew65 - the Farian War series book 2.
Will be cutting some fresh fabric for a hooded sweater for my son in a moment. It's a sewing kind of readathon. 😜
Picture of what I finished #audiosewing yesterday; two tee-shirts, eight small knick-knack bags with zipper. I suppose I'll be a pro at sewing zippers by the end of the small bags project (60 🙈😲 more to sew).
Butch's story. #BlackDaggerBrotherhood
Lots going on that will probably be revealed in book 295.😜😜😜 @GingerAntics
Low/soft pick.
#20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
Right after the Indranan empire has emerged from the aftershocks of the attempted coup they are on the brink of another war. This time to negotiate a peace treaty that's been overdue for millennia.

April wrap-up and May Goals
Had a cold in early April. Cannot recommend 0/10. I did some yoga, but not as much as I had planned.
Managed to read 12 ARCs. Very happy about it.
May
I hope to read 8 ARCs, and I want to be able to do the "clock" exercise (pelvis/lower back rotation) without having to think about the steps. Plus, getting better at some of the other ex. my new PT gave me.
Currently reading book 1 of the Farian War series. It's the follow up trilogy set after the Indranan War trilogy.
Another buddyread with my son.
#20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
Book 3 of #BlackDaggerBrotherhood
Could hardly put it down, although I could predict the ending from the start.
@GingerAntics, I might have to unfollow you. You make me plunge down rabbit holes. I should be reading all the ARCs. 🙈🙈
#20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
Fabrics cut and pinned together. Now I just need to sew them up.
Book 2 of the #BlackDaggerBrotherhood read. @GingerAntics
I liked this more than the first book in the series.
#20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
First tea, then I'm going to cut fabric.
#20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
It's #readathon time!
My plan is to read as much of the #BlackDaggerBrotherhood books as possible. I have a few audiobooks lined up for some sewing projects.
#20in4 May Day Special @Andrew65
Low pick.
Vampires, romance, 🌶️🌶️ + ⚔️ scenes, and a cliffhanger.
I'm off to read the next book.
#20in4 #readathon @Andrew65
@GingerAntics
About 75% in, I have questions. ⬇️
This is the first book of the Indranan War trilogy. I really liked the whole trilogy.
Told from the POV of Hail, former gunrunner now heir to the Indranan empire. Hail has to weather assassination attempts, scandals and betrayals. The empire is based on Indian/Hindu culture and matriarchal.

It was recommended to me after I had complained that there are no creepy books out there. A friend said this was creepy as hell from the start.
Nope, wasn't creepy at all. It was all over the place and a slog.
Couple breaks up just to get together in secret again.
Pub Day 19th April
Davey accidentally calls Hannah. They start texting, then video-calling. When Davey gets a job in London, Hannah intends to meet him at the airport. Davey doesn't walk through the Arrival doors. Now to carry on with their lives. Will they eventually meet up?
The plot was predictable. What I hadn't anticipated: the very serious reason for the male MC's no-show. The main and secondary characters are fleshed out very well.
Heroine has to disguise herself as a man to work as a steward for a Scottish duke, her father is ill and indebted to a moneylender.
The duke, obviously, has to wear a kilt and show of his muscular legs from the start. 🙄
No one suspects the slender steward with the feminine features to be a woman. 🙄
A few plot holes, which are necessary for the story to work, of course. Stereotypes for the Scottish characters 🙄😑
I'm not sure about this one. On the one hand I really liked that the hero was a therapist who gave seminars where men learn how to better support their partners. On the other hand the heroine acted really really dumb because she always FU her relationships.
A few plot holes, a bit slow in parts then rushed in other parts, some really extended sex scenes.
Could have benefited from more editing.
Co-workers to lovers
Marriage of Convenience trope.
An okay read, but the first two books in the series were better.
There's little to no character development. Julian is supposed to be treating Emily like an adult, which he is not. Emily is supposed to grow a backbone, which only happens close to the end of the book, and only because her mother criticises Emily's pet AND Julian speaks up on Emily's behalf. 🙄🙄🙄
Enjoyed this not-quite-enemies to lovers/not-quite fake relationship fluffy read.
I got this based on the cover.
It's full of gore, graphic (sexual) violence, cannibalism,...
Not exactly sure what put me off. Maybe that dystopian books with gore and violence aren't what I'd call horror? Maybe it was the writing style?
Ugh! A YA-ish "retelling" of Greek myths. I was waiting for the promised feminist twist.

On Rotation (ARC) - 68%
The Fake Up (ARC) - 23%
Finished two Chronicles of St Mary's re-reads. "Doktor Maxwells Spektakuläre Zeitrettung" (book 5 of the series) was a buddyread with my daughter.
The audiobook (in German) was good. I liked the narrator.
I liked Elizabeth Zott's story. Yes, there is only minor character development, but I enjoyed the whole story too much to be bothered by this.
Now I can't wait to read the English edition.
Happy Pub-Day!
I'm going to re-read this book today. 😁
#AwesomeApril #readathon @Andrew65
Fourteen stories from around the world. All gruesome. With truly magnificent illustrations.
If you like fairy tales that are grisly, get yourself (or the #MiddleGrade reader/s in your life) a copy of this book.
#AwesomeApril #readathon @Andrew65
Chilling? Not really. I think I spooked myself out in my teens.
The stories of the 13 inhabitants of Banyan Court soon become repetitive and feel dragged out.
#AwesomeApril #readathon @Andrew65
It came out in Germany two weeks ago. My UK edition is at @squirrelbrain's.
I'm in love with this story. I don't even mind the mistakes in the German translation.

1) Yes! Who doesn't?
2) There are a few books I bought long before I had kids. I'd guesstimate 18-23 years.
Tag, you're it! 😉
