The Ledberg Runestone
The Ledberg Runestone: The Jonah Heywood Chronicles - Book One | Patrick Donovan
4 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
A daring urban fantasy adventure through the rough roads of Asheville perfect for fans of Jim Butcher and M.D. Massey. Magic: To some, its spectacle. To Jonah, its pure profit. A shaman for hire, Jonah can tap into his powers as easily as turning on a light switch, but the real money is in putting on a show. And after putting himself in debt to the Carver brothers, Ashevilles version of a mafia, in order to save his fathers business, hes in need of some real money. Then a mysterious woman makes Jonah a staggering offer: $20,000to find and deliver the Ledberg runestone, a legendary artifact of Norse myth. Hes suspicious of the case and the buyer, but when the Carvers threaten Jonahs father if they dont get their payment within the month, Jonah starts his investigation. As he explores Ashevilles seedy magical underbelly, Jonah discovers hes not alone on the hunt. Will Jonah survive long enough to save his father, or will his past of swindling mortals and dodging debt collectors finally catch up with him?

Patrick Donovan knows how to craft an intense urban fantasy. His latest book launches a new series about a young shaman who lives in Asheville, North Carolina. Jonah is a walking disaster with a massive debt to a pair of crime lord brothers and a raging drinking problem. It says a lot for Patrick that Jonah‘s flaws don‘t deter the reading from getting invested in this story. #urbanfantasy

Three chapters into The Ledberg Runestone feels like catching up with an old friend (suppose it technically is for me). Been fun seeing how much of the manuscript I read a few years ago has remained. It gets off to a strong start, putting Jonah in plenty of trouble. Knowing Patrick the stakes will only get worse for Jonah...and quickly. Looking forward to finally learning how it all ends! #urbanfantasy #JonahHeywood

A book that‘s been burning a hole in my TBR list is Patrick Donovan‘s The Ledberg Runestone. Patrick and I are “pub brothers” (we share the same publisher), and he really knows how to craft a fun and intense urban fantasy. I read parts of an early draft of this book years ago, so I‘m eager to see how it‘s final version turned out. #UrbanFantasy #PatrickDonovan #JonahHeywood

Patrick Donovan and I were among a small group of writers with my original publisher at Fable Press. His novel Demon Jack was one of the first of my pub-siblings‘ books I read and loved. Today is the book birthday of his first book in a new urban fantasy series: The Ledberg Runestone. If you like Jim Butcher‘s “Dresden Files,” then Patrick‘s books are right up your alley. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36603831-the-ledberg-runestone
