First book completed for #Nonfiction2022 ; category is “I‘m Unplanned.” This is a narrative of one man‘s search for his birth parents primarily in the years before DNA made it easier to establish family relationships. The text is rather pedestrian and linear (“first this happened, and then that happened…”) but by the time he reaches the end of his search you feel like you‘re invested in an episode of “Maury”: just who IS the daddy??

I have worked on my own family tree since my late teens and really love genealogy. So reading Mr. Hill‘s memoir has been fascinating, watching this mystery unfolding in story form! I can only imagine how he felt finding out about each new relation he discovered. His story is clear and well written, interesting and thought-provoking.
