Brief Encounters with Che Guevara: Stories
Brief Encounters with Che Guevara: Stories | Ben Fountain
5 posts | 9 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
The well-meaning protagonists of Brief Encounters with Che Guevara are caught--to both disastrous and hilarious effect--in the maelstrom of political and social upheaval surrounding them. Ben Fountain's prize-winning debut speaks to the intimate connection between the foreign, the familiar, and the inescapably human.

Mehso-so

Most of the stories were tales of warfare corrupting the outsider with fear, frustration, cynicism, and hopelessness. The last story of a pianist at a time of emerging fascism doesn‘t seem to fit with the others.

"NO! I didn't!!"
I barely finished this audiobook. I kept thinking about quitting but I kept thinking maybe it would get better - it actually has great reviews on Goodreads. There were a few ok stories, and a couple of interesting moments but overall, it was not worth my time!
