I've been very sick for a week and on mandatory isolation with possible covid. So that's been fun. Finally turning the corner though and I am beyond stoked for that! I haven't seen my kids in two weeks!
🦋- my son celebrating his 11th birthday via FaceTime.
🌈- usually something K-Pop or maybe bounce, like Big Frieda
🧁- Peanut M&M's
♥️- I don't know any new littens, I've been off too long. 😅

madamereadsalot1 @ShyBookOwl @Klou @Zoes_Human the series was actually really great in the beginning. I have to revisit the earlier books ever so often because I really love them. The series decline is awful and makes me bummed, but I still follow the series regardless. I'm doubtful, but I hope she's actually trying to turn it around like the past novel. Hi everyone. Hope your 2020 has started out decent. I've been MIA from here for many reasons, including the fact that I've just spent more time reading over any other task, including work. I've been in a murdery, mystery, vampy kind of mood this year for the most part. Rereading the Anita Blake series and knocking out some King's I haven't read or finished yet. And even tried a couple new authors I was told about. Currently reading tagged.

Geenie What type of reading do you usually indulge in? (edited) 5y
madamereadsalot1 @Yoshi-and-a-book oh pretty much anything. I'm such an mood reader. I'll get stuck in a groove and only be able to really get into certain types of books though. I started the year wanting to read some ludicrous, laughable novel that uses phrases like "velvet hot rod" or "silky love box" (all things I've read before) because I've been bummed. But it wasn't that good. So I just went back to an old fave, Anita. And just violence/mystery in general. 5y

The Birds | Daphne Du Maurier, Derek Strange

Pickpick

If you have never read this short story, do your self a solid and get it now. It's 70 some odd pages of absolute genius suspense writing. I have read books that are hundreds of pages long that were unable to create the intensity that Daphne du Maurier does here.

The movie simply shares a title and an idea but has no horror the way the book does, and I like the movie. I always assumed it was because I don't fear birds, but I was wrong. So wrong.

madamereadsalot1 I couldn't find a cover of just this short story, so here are a mass amount of starlings in England, which is where the story takes place. 5y
Chrissyreadit Is the what Alfred Hitchcock‘s movie The Birds was based on? That movie gave me nightmares for years. 5y

I enjoyed this one. Some of these intros & pieces I had read/heard before, but a lot I hadn't. Mostly it beefed up my TBR even more, but a few times it made me tear up. Sometimes, the big feelings I get from Gaiman & his words make me question my sanity. I just like what he says & how he says it. For some reason, something in me rings like a bell struck when I consume his work. This was an intimate book that rang a lot.

madamereadsalot1 To answer my own question, mine would be from the tagged shit show. The whole thing was horribly written and absolutely ludicrous. It's been years and I still remember: "Just who was the dark man? That‘s what she‘d called him when she was a kid. He‘d seemed so dark." And it went on about how dark he was ... She didn't even try a thesaurus ... 5y

It's been years since I read this. Still an excellent Norse mythology story written with young readers in mind but lovely enough for everyone. You just can't ever go wrong with Gaiman and Norse mythos. 2nd #AuthorAMonth book down. @Soubhiville

Loved it even more the second time around. This ending is still my favorite ending of any book. Book 1 for #AuthorAMonth done. @Soubhiville
