Filipino Ghost Stories: Spine-Tingling Tales of Supernatural Encounters and Hauntings | Alex G. Paman
3 posts | 1 read | 3 to read
Spine-tingling tales of supernatural encounters and hauntings. Ghost stories are commonplace in traditional Filipino culture. Whether they take place at a relative's funeral or a hacienda located deep in a remote province, virtually all families have their own personal accounts of their encounters with the supernatural. Passed on from generation to generation, these tales act as a bridge to the past, to a time lost or nearly forgotten. To write this book of ghostly encounters with all manner of things eerie and terrifying in the Philippines, the author collected creepy tales that have been told in his family for generations. Covering ghostly encounters in bustling cities and in remote townsand even a short section of hauntings on American soilFilipino Ghost Stories offers good, old-fashioned scary stories perfect to share around the campfire or under the blankets with a flashlight. Like secret food recipes, traditional ghost stories in the Philippines are valuable personal heirlooms, something to be passed forward to future generations. This book delivers terrific entertainmentand some good spine tingling chillsfor those interested in the Philippines and aficionados of the supernatural alike. Filipino ghost stories include: Great Balls of Fire Caught in the Wake Family Ties that Bind Just Outside the Door Pitch Black Only the Wind A Brush with the Unknown Hide and Shriek

@Avanders Thank you so much! You went above and beyond! The wrapping paper was so pretty and I love the tissue paper. I was so surprised to see four books instead of two! I‘m so excited to read each of these books! They all look so good! I know what I‘ll be reading between trick-or-treaters!
@MaleficentBookDragon thanks so much for hosting #AllHallowsReadSwap #AHRS

👻#OwnVoices collection of supernatural tales.
👻 Not scary/creepy but more cultural-centric as it talks of Filipino beliefs, faiths, & practices.
👻Some stuff is lost-in-transition.
👻Ppl familiar w/Asian beliefs/communities may understand the traits better.
👻Stories taking place in America didn‘t interest me at all.
👻Mildly fast-paced.
👻Not bad. Recommended if you want insight into the common beliefs within this culture group.
👻3.25/5
