#Poemoftheday Eros Turannos (Love, the Tyrant) by E.A. Robinson. I highly recommend Googling and reading the whole thing.
"The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
Another Yeats today because he's only one of the most brilliant, evocative poets of the modern age. He speaks to my hidden frustrations, & inspires me to never give up on the good I know is out there. #poemoftheday
"And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow."
I love this poem by Yeats. If I am ever able to afford a little property away from the bustle of everyday life I'm going to name it INNISFREE. #poemoftheday
"Smart lad, to slip betimes away/ From fields where glory does not stay." A.E. Houseman
Such a sad #poemoftheday
#PoemOfTheDay
After a week of travel I'm back to my morning poem! This one is by Oscar Wilde. There is a familiar sadness in these lines, about the times when there is a tiny but essential distance between lovers that sounds the death knell of a relationship.
Thoughts?
Today's #PoemOfTheDay: The Windhover by GMH. You can even see my student notes from back in the day. ? I'm not particularly religious, but I still love GMH poetry. The way he plays with words, stringing them together like verbal pearls--he makes "my heart in hiding stir for a WORD!"
I've decided to start each day with a #MorningPoem. Today's is by Thomas Hardy. I can't decide if I admire his unwillingness to settle for anything less than his idealized version of life and love, or if I want to tell him to suck it up and stop whining. Would ❤️ to hear what others think.
